Project #3

Homework #6

Homework #6: 20 Rules you Should Never Break

Mary Stribley's: 20 Design Rules you Should Never Break was very informative.  I really enjoyed that she showed the correct and incorrect versions of things as it really helped to understand what she was referring to.  Most of the "rules" she referred to were very simple but made a lot of sense.  Some of them I would have never thought of.  I also enjoyed her light humor throughout the article, especially in the first rule: "Somebody once said that if you truly hate someone, teach them how to recognize bad kerning."

Homework #5

Homework #5: Mystery Box

J.J. Abrams: The Mystery Box was inspiring.  After watching this Ted talk I truly feel inspired to create something "To fill the pages of blank paper".  Abrams Grandfather introduced him to many things during his childhood, many of which inspired him later in life and led him to his success.  He gave Abrams a Mystery box from a magic store, that Abrams never opened.  This box became a symbol for many things throughout his life.  The design on the box was also a large part in not opening the box.  The large question mark along with the colors and the shape added to the mystery.  Design and mystery is everywhere.

Homework #4

Movie poster I love

A Movie poster I really like is this one from Inception.  I find it eye appealing and I enjoy the color combinations of the red, white, and blue to work well together.  What I like most about this poster is the perspective of the water and the buildings.  He fits in perfectly with the background and really looks like he's in the water.  The tone and atmosphere of this movie poster is really well done.
